Oil grade
- Use 4-stroke motor oil that meets API SJ or later. Honda recommends SAE 10W-30 for general use.[1]
- The manual’s temperature chart shows 5W-30/10W-30 for the widest range and SAE 30 for warmer weather; it prints no exact cut-off temperatures.[1]
Fuel
- In the U.S., unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 86 or higher.[1]
- No more than 10% ethanol (E10) or 5% methanol.[1]
Air filter
The GX comes with several air cleaner types, including an oiled low-profile element and an oil-bath type. The manual gives no part numbers.[1]
